As the name indicates “Allegro” is a fast and joyful way of gaining information and developing skills in writing about music (in English).

The course is particularly beneficial for journalists or writers who write about music and music events as well as for the musicians or music managers who wish to find good or new ways of expressing themselves about their work.

The course consists of four compact sessions, with each lasting for 2 hours.

The course is organised by Cultograph, a collective for culture and journalism.

More info:
— The participants are introduced to the main pillars of writing about music: concepts, a brief history, journalistic formats and their priorities in writing about music, writing techniques, terminology.
— The course is equally beneficial to young musicians and their managers, who wish to gain skills in expressing themselves and promoting their work in a written form.
— The course provides an opportunity for an active engagement in the music scene and with musicians.
— Chosen works, produced during the course, will be published at the Cultograph website and social media with promotion of their authors.
— The course is an opportunity for the participants to develop a long-term cooperation with Cultograph, allowing them to deepen their skills and stay involved in the scene.

The course will be led by Ati Metwaly, a cultural journalist and music critic, editor of Arts and Culture at Ahram Online, winner of the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Award in Culture (2016) with years of experience in writing about music field in numerous local (including Al Ahram Weekly and Ahram Online) and international publications.
